Pellets are a type of biofuel used for obtaining heat energy.
Why using pellets?
- A pellet is a compacted wood byproduct, with humidity below 10% that gives it high energy efficiency. Thermal value of wood pellets is around 18 MJ/kg of pellets (5 kW/h).
Comparison on the basis of thermal values:2 kg peleta ≈ 1 lit ulja za loženje 1,85 kg peleta ≈ 1 m3 zemnog plina 650 kg peleta zauzima 1 m3 prostora 3 m3 peleta ≈ 1000 lit ulja za loženje Potrošnja peleta 1 kg/h ≈ 5 kW snage - Combustion automatism in pellet burners and boilers is the same as in fuel oil and gas stoves. The pellet burners have automatic ignition and temperature control, and pellets are automatically fed into stove. This is an advantage compared to wood logs or wood briquettes.
- Pellets are a renewable energy source, made of wooden leftovers that, instead of disposing them as in the past, are today given added value in the form of pellets as final product.
- CO2 neutral
- In price terms alone, pellets costs are the lowest compared to other energy fuels that are automatically fed and combusted.
In its Mrkopalj plant, Drvenjača d.d. Fužine produces 7.500 tons of pellets annually.
